T-Top vs O'fficial
2.25 ☆ Rating Recapped by J Smo
Opening battle of the night, and maybe the one most affected by the event relocation, O’fficial vs T-Top was a originally a home game that suddenly became a much smaller and more even playing ground. 1st round started on O’fficial, who came out as you’d expect: punching at a good rate. Solid 1st round and what, in hindsight, would be her best-paced round. O put some pressure on T-Top to start, but he answered the call. Both barred out in the round, and it’s close enough to say it’s not too crazy to have O, but I felt T-Top comfortably edged the round by reaching the higher highs of either round while also being consistent. T-Top 1-0 edge, in a good opening round.
Unfortunately, the battle takes a steep dive in quality from there. T-Top 2nd round has some punching, lighter than the quality of his 1st, but also has an angle about Official cooking chicken the battler’s Air BnB for the event. Yes, you read that right. And post-execution, I can confidently say it’s up there for one of the worst angles we’ve seen in 2024. With the 2nd being a layup for O aside from a choke, the opportunity was there for O to take clear control. While she did take the round, her 2nd also had many flaws, breath control issues, and stumbling coming back to O, which we haven’t seen in her last couple of showings. 1-1, but not in very exciting fashion.
The 3rd is just a textbook closeout, with Top having his best round of the battle while Official had her worst. At this point, the stumbling became more frequent, making it hard to build any momentum to land. Lackluster, although not brutal, opener, TTop walks away with a 2-1, 1st, and 3rd, and quietly adds another W vs a top tier to what is shaping out to quietly be one of the better years in T-Top’s career. The battle went downhill for O as it went on, but with a strong couple showings to start the year and a sudden venue switch that she stated led to a lot of her material being reranged, I wouldn’t expect this to be a return to her in consistent form and more so just a tough outing in what’s been an otherwise good year.

Rum Nitty vs Viixen
4.25 ☆ Rating Recapped by France
With just six weeks out before the event, Vixen stepped in to replace Casey J to battle Rum Nitty at Summer Madness: Kings vs. Queens. She entered the battle as a heavy underdog—arguably the biggest underdog of the weekend—and yet she walked out with perhaps the most compelling storyline of the night, delivering a career-defining performance. A Viixen career-high showing was not on my bingo card at all. Though Vixen has had several impressive showings throughout her career, this one stood out the most from start to finish against one of the best battlers in the world.
From round one to round three, it was clear her material was airtight. Her bars were tough, her setups more intentional, and her pen was sharper than usual; combined with her performance, energy, and what the kids call “rizz,” she was on another level. She came out swinging in the first round, landing clever punchlines with fire wordplay, all earning nods of approval from Rum Nitty himself. It was a highly competitive round, with Nitty bringing his signature punching power. There’s something special about Rum Nitty—his peers constantly praise his pen. Since his battle with Loaded Lux, it feels like he’s set a new standard for himself, and he’s been living up to it ever since. The first round was close, but I gave the edge to Nitty.
The second round, however, is where the battle turned for many people. Vixen opened up, addressing the “OnlyFans” stigma with a haymaker that shook the room, and from that point on, she was on fire. She landed haymaker after haymaker, with a longer round that didn’t drag but instead felt like she was riding a wave of momentum that was clearly building in her favor. By the end of her second, it was apparent: this was her night.
Nitty opened his second with a clever rebuttal to her “OnlyFans” bar, but it took a while for him to heat up fully. However, once he hit his stride in the last 90 seconds, he unleashed a series of potent punches—from the JFK bar to the “Blitzin’ Viixen,” the “Whiteside,” and more. These haymakers were so heavy that you could argue he had the best lines of both the first and second rounds. But despite Nitty’s power punches, they came just a bit too late. Vixen’s consistency and intensity throughout the second gave her the edge for me.
Vixen opened the third round with a mix of charisma and humor, adding a light-hearted touch while still maintaining the intensity from the previous rounds. Her performance was well-rounded, and she kept up the pressure with strong material. Meanwhile, Nitty’s third round, while still solid, was his weakest, allowing Vixen to claim what she called a “ladies 30” against the Alien.
In the end, I can’t praise Vixen enough for rising to the occasion. Her game plan, performance, energy, and, most importantly, her writing all came together perfectly. I’m standing by it— material wise, this was Vixen’s best three rounds in her career.

John John Da Don vs Coffee
3.25 ☆ Rating Recapped by J Smo
In what many thought could end up being battle of the night, Coffee vs JJDD was a battle between 2 battlers with heavy 2024 WOTY/COTY cases as both have been as consistent as you could ask for as of recently. The battle started on John John, with a solid opener, mainly a punching-based round. While it was a formidable round, it lacked the peaks and all-around strategy that JJ has been accustomed to and left the door open for Coffee to go up 1-0. And that’s what happened, with Coffee giving her best round of the battle. Similar to her 1st vs. Jaz earlier in the year, she barred out in the 1st round and outwrote her opponent, taking the 1st by a noticeable but close margin.
The 2nd of the round is entirely inverse, as John John turns up in terms of energy, angles, and content. Coffee on the other hand a solid round but didn’t land with the same consistency and power. There are no real flaws in this round from either once again, and not many flaws across the battle as a whole, as it’s 2 of the sharper professionals we have going at it. JJDD took the 2nd in the clearest round of the battle and left the result down to the 3rd.
3rd is the most detailed round from either, and also the most debatable as both had a bit of an angle war to close the battle. Counter writing and counter angling on character assassination from both, this round will come down to your preference on the angles. John John attacks Coffee’s body, promiscuousness, and branding while still punching at a pretty consistent rate. Coffee returned fire, breaking down JJ’s career/status, how he runs Bullpen, and a bit of counterwriting displayed on the topic of parenthood. While overall Coffee covered more topics, there was a range in effectiveness from angle to angle, a common theme of rounds that cover this many different topics. In what could be the closest round of the night, I edged John John ever so slightly for having a better pace and consistent round, giving the battle to JJDD 2-1 in the 2nd and 3rd. In what is probably the closest battle of the night, it goes to show the all-around skillset both are displaying in 2024, and even though it may not have contended for BOTN itself, it should be seen as a stock-positive look for both battlers.

Tay Roc vs Jaz The Rapper
4.25 ☆ Rating Recapped by Q Moody
I had low expectations coming into this battle.
A lot has been made recently about Jaz’s battles with men and the work being underwhelming. It’s a conversation that I thought went too far. Because of how disappointing the Geechi, Charlie Clips, and Bigg K battles are, there’s how great the Nitty, Bizzo, Twork, and Loso battles are. The truth is that Jaz’s battles against men are more of a mixed bag, and I thought this Tay Roc battle would fall into the Geechi and Clips category.
I was wrong. I was extremely wrong.
This battle isn’t just good—it’s not even very good. It’s GREAT and one of the best battles of 2024, and we witnessed a career-high performance from one of the best ever.
Tay Roc has been on a roll in 2024, leading the COTY race and his material here matched the standard he’s set for his year. This might be the best Roc I’ve heard all year to be totally honest, only behind the Bill Collector performance. Tay Roc didn’t slack or falter at all. We got high-level punching, the pockets, and the multi-syllabic runs he’s become known for in the stage of his career; we even got some very well-done comedy from him to start the battle.
But Jaz, from the start, is just on a different level, man. It left me in awe. The potency in almost every single line. How phenomenal her build-ups were. Still getting fresh ideas for bars out of tired topics and finding new approaches for Roc. It was a masterclass from Jaz, the likes we’ve never seen before, and considering what she’s done in her career, I know that’s a big statement, but I mean it. I truly believe this is the BEST Jaz the Rapper ever. From her rhyme pockets, the haymakers, the comedy, the angles. The only performances in battle rap this year on this level came from Loaded Lux vs Rum Nitty.
Jaz has some iconic wins in her career. What she did to 40 Barrs is legendary, but someone could put the asterisk next to it that 40 choked all three rounds. She put up a highlight reel vs. Viixen, but there’s room for someone to say, “Well, it’s in NY; she got gassed.” If you value big stage battles over smaller room battles, you may still have those performances ranked ahead of this one. Her vs Roc might not be the most iconic from the setting, but it is by far the biggest and most impressive win in her career. A win over the arguably the best battle rapper ever, in what might be his best year ever while is the #1 front runner for COTY, is the most impressive feat of her career, no question. Out of the many elite competitors to stand in front of Roc this year, from Bill Collector to A.Ward, to Bigg K and others. Jaz did what all of them fell short of doing, and that’s getting a clear win over Tay Roc.
Sometimes, this happens in Roc battles, where he’s great, but the story is his opponent putting up a career-high. Daylyt and Murda Mook are the prime examples, and what Jaz did belongs in that exact same conversation.
Roc was great in this battle, I really can’t stress this enough. And I don’t think this affects his chances of winning COTY at all outside. The outcome of this result isn’t because he slacked. It’s all on Jaz being her best self to date and unlocking something in herself that cements her as one of the greatest to ever step in the ring.

Nu Jerzey Twork vs 40 BARRS
2.75 ☆ Rating Recapped by Q Moody
On a big stage, I thought this battle was a potential catastrophe for 40 Barrs, I’ll be honest. What we’ve seen from her before makes it hard to have confidence in what she would look like on a stage. And facing someone like Twork, who has more big stage successes than we can count, it would have been an even more uphill fight.
While I still feel like 40 lost this battle, she was by far the biggest beneficiary of the unfortunate relocation of the event.
40 doesn’t land anything I’d consider a bomb, but the more intimate environment definitely made it easier to appreciate the slick wordplay that she packs into her rounds. Like “Switch to Jersey. This an Away game.” “40 in your mouth to see you choke. I’m a hypocrite” or “The Indigenous” line. Her biggest haymaker of the round is the “Squat on this pussy it’s a Drunk night” bar in her first round, which is one of the better examples of this.
While some may debate this round, the problem for her here is that Twork, even on what I’d call 60% of what his ceiling is, is still far too potent and lands room shakers with ease. Keep in mind, I said this is maybe a 60% Twork. Yet you’re still getting “Dark tints on a Charger/LaDian Tomlinson”, “Take flight like Juice WRLD/I’m about to pop 40 Barrs (bars) to death” and “50 Cent to Nickelback to 45”. The Measuring Tape wordplay. By the time he lands the “So long sucker, It’s a Jaw Breaker.” He overpowers 40 very swiftly.
And I think it’s even more true in the 2nd round. 40’s 2nd isn’t bad, but it’s significantly weaker than her 1st round. She opts for some more comedy in this portion of the battle and it just doesn’t do a ton to swing the tide of the battle in her favor. And she ends the round shaky and sort of abruptly. To be clear, not a choke, but it would be a lie to say the way she ended the round wasn’t noticeable.
Twork’s 2nd starts off pretty slow and if 40 had been better in her round, it would have been more debatable. But with 40 not giving anything to latch onto material-wise, by the time Twork heats up, the round is pretty much sealed in his favor. Back to back, he’s landing with the “Hamburger Helper/talk to the hand,” “Yoshi/Smash Bros,” and “Cheetah print/fastest cat in the world.” It’s a weaker round than his 1st, but still more than enough to win. The “what if he walks in and sees all scissor/you know kids not supposed to run with that” was just overkill.
40 does get the third round here. She and Twork are both clearly losing steam, but I thought her balloon bar was the best line of the third round from either of them. Twork’s ring concept had potential, but he wasn’t fluid getting through the material, and as a whole, the round ended pretty weak.
Unfortunately, the elephant in the room when talking about both 40 and Twork is whether they will be clean in their rounds. To their credit, they both got through their material. But it didn’t feel like either of them rapped the way we know they do when they’re super confident in their memorization.
I have this as a clear 2-1 for Twork. He’s not as good here as he was against Pass, but he clearly won the first two rounds here. I admire 40’s desire to take on all this high-level comp in 2024, but she’s not getting the best results so far, and I’m not sure how confident I am in her turning it around. She’s outstanding against First Lady Flamez, but with back-to-back losses against Charron and Twork and then having Ave, Swamp, and Viixen all on the horizon, that’s a daunting lineup of comp that I would be skeptical of anyone facing. Let alone someone who has already had consistency or memorization issues. I hope she can tap into some of that greatness we know she has to make this schedule fruitful.
Twork started off 2024 not on the best foot, but since then he does have these clear wins on J2, Pass and 40. With his Bigg K battle coming in November, maybe we are starting to see the makings of Twork having a case for top 20 come COTY season.

Geechi Gotti vs Ms. Hustle
3.25 ☆ Rating Recapped by J Smo
Last battle of the night, Hustle vs Gotti was a top-tier EFB clash, and a battle that probably exceeded expectations by at least a bit, with many worried about the battle being too friendly or Geechi potentially not taking it that seriously. However, from the 1st bar of the battle, the tone was set with Hustle instantly taking a personal shot at Geechi and his marriage, which would start a variety of personal angles from both as the battle went on. Hustle 1st round is solid work though, giving her high energy performance/punching based style that has kept her threat her whole career. Geechi in response also gave a heavy 1st, a great sign off rip to see him that engaged, and with haymakers scattered throughout. It was very contested 1st, but I thought Geechi matched the consistency and had the peak bars of the round with a flurry in the 2nd half of the round (ex, Letting Someone Out The Space F*** bar, No Villian/Happy Ending bar) and got the 1-0 lead by a slight margin.
After a closely contested 1st, the 2nd is much clear and the clearest round of the battle. Hustle kept her consistency from the 1st to the 2nd; in many ways, the quality and consistency of her showing in this battle was similar to her vs. Swamp on NOME 14, another solid battle vs. a top tier she’s had this year. While another good Geechi round could’ve competed, this was the round Gotti seemed to take off with a very freestyle-heavy and unorganized round, albeit with a couple of bars landing here and there. Still, Hustle took the 2nd clear and once again had a battle 1-1 going into the 3rd.
The 3rd is also a contested round, Hustle closing out strong but this time incorporating more specific angling into the round, talking about how Geechi’s past connection with Coffee and flipping many of the angles he used against Coffee in their battle against him. While the Coffee jump-in in the round was a bit of an anti-climatic ending to some very good build-up for the angles, Hustle still delivered most of the content very well. Geechi 3rd started pretty slow in the 1st half, but as the round picked up, so did the quality, ending on a great angle of his own about Hustle and hiding her fianace with the “Post Up” haymaker capping off a good 3rd as well. Similar to Coffee vs JJDD earlier in the night, the 3rd is close and, with a war of angles, makes it lean into more of a preferential round. However, thought Hustle round stayed consistent while Geechi had that slightly dry start and ended up edging her the battle 2-1 2nd and 3rd. There is also a good case for Geechi 1st and 3rd and for a battle that I and many others thought could end up lackluster or unserious, I’m glad to say I was wrong, and overall, both gave a great effort to close what ended up being a good event and remind us why they are the professionals they are.
